Why you should develop your slow-speed control on a motorcycle
Slow-speed exercises carry less risk. You can develop your skills on a motorcycle with less risk to you and less risk to damage to your motorcycle.
Most crashes or drops on the street occur at slower speeds. If you develop your skills on a parking lot you can avoid dropping your motorcycle out on the public roads. Not only is it safer if you drop in a parking lot…it is more private. 😉 I would much rather drop my motorcycle on a private parking lot than on the bike night parking lot.
Riding at slow speed forces the rider to master the techniques of riding. This one is huge. Technique is everything. The techniques you learn at slow speed to control your motorcycle translate directly to the techniques you need when the road speed increases. Slow-speed practice on a parking lot allows you to develop your technique in private, with less risk to you and the bike and will help you when the speeds increase and the risk of injury on the road is much higher.
