I survived the Great Texas Freeze Out of 2021…and we thought 2020 was over. 😉

When Linda (my wife) was a kid her Mom worked at a place in Indiana that was a tourist village but showed how life was in the early 1800's. They had no electricity there, handmade everything and cooked on an open fire/fireplace. When Linda was a kid she would go there with her Mom on the weekends, put on a costume from the 1800's and be one of the cast. She learned a lot about living w/o current amenities.

We gathered coals from the fireplace and put them in a pan. Used part of a pizza rack to elevate another pan above the hot coals and cooked on that. It worked really well! Best grilled cheese I have ever eaten. 😉

I really wanted to get a new MCrider video out this weekend but mother nature just did not cooperate. I will get back to it next week and hopefully have some new training material ready for MCrider.

After a 35 year hiatus, I decided to return to riding motorcycles. Internet searches for instructional material provided a vast array of choices for my questions. MCRider was one that coming up with lessons for the topics I was interested in. The videos on YouTube were extremely helpful in rebuilding my confidence and skill level. I was aware there was a forum for quite some time before joining and am glad I took the plunge. The depth of knowledge from the membership, as well as the willingness to answer questions and offer guidance cannot be overstated. I purchased some practice cones and used the Field Guide exercises to hone my riding skills and my practice sessions are now something I look forward to.

Perhaps the most beneficial parts of the forum are the discussions pertaining to safe riding and rider awareness. One of the forum members made a comment to the effect of ” A superior rider uses his superior judgment to avoid situations which require the use of his superior skill.” That statement stays in the forefront of my mind and I believe it helps make me a better/safer rider. I am much more aware of the potential dangers due to reading the discussions on the forum and it has helped increase my enjoyment of being on 2 wheels again.

…your channel is a “School” I can attend and learn many riding skills and information that it would take years to gather. I have always been taught to seek out the experts if you want to learn. For me, when I ride I remember the videos and information that I have learned. You really have an impact on my riding and that has helped me tremendously.
